Pets and Kids Are Meant For Each Other!

Kids and pets need each other, as best friends, companions and family members.

Kids learn so much from having a pet: how to take responsibility. Be compassionate and kind. Think of others as well as their own needs and desires.

Having pets also connects kids to the natural world. We live in an era when it is too easy to plug in and zone out in front of television, video games or texting friends. Rarely do our kids play and explore outside.

Today, more than ever, we need ways to connect kids to our natural world.

How else will our kids ever learn what they must know, as adults, to protect our planet and every living thing on it?

Our future depends on this.

And this is one great benefit of having pets. They draw kids out of themselves, out of their default setting (sit back and let adults or electronics entertain you) and out of acting helpless (as some kids would prefer to do).

Having a pet can draw out a shy child, calm a nervous child, befriend an unpopular child, support a disabled child and enliven the life of any child.

I believe passionately that pets and kids belong together. They help each other learn, see, understand and grow in mind, body and spirit.

Pets and Kids — Made For Each Other!

Good pets – and good kids – don’t simply ‘happen,’ as any parent or teacher can tell you. I have been or am both teacher and parent as well as a lifetime pet lover and pet owner. Being a good kid, a good pet, a good parent or a good person is learned behaviour, not instinct.

Kids and pets need the opportunity to learn and grow together.

So I am proud to introduce you to our series of books grounded in these beliefs I’ve just shared with you.

Here’s What Readers Say:

“I have been a dog lover and owner for years and I learned something new from this book …. informative easy-to-read book for young pet owners to learn to become better pet owners!” – Elizabeth Lim in her Amazon.com review

“I highly encourage every parent (OR GRANDPARENT) of school age kids (roughly 4th grade) who hear the statement “I Want a Kitten” or “I want a Cat” to read this book together with their child…. It covers all the bases – from where to get a kitten/cat, to feeding, and how to think about different breeds. It is well-written and I can imagine the Author, 9 year old Tristan, “talking” to my child or grandchild through the narrative. This book is actually part of a series of books that includes a similar book to this one but about Dogs – and also has some shorter books about Geckos, Lizards, or Reptiles. If your child is asking for a pet, not specifically a Cat, you may want to read several of these books with them before making a decision together.” – James Archer in his Amazon.com review
